KB Computer Associates has extensive experience in leading introductory, intermediate and advanced training programs in Ingres™ system programming, SQL, introductory concepts, Ingres database administration, and Ingres system administration, tuning, and performance monitoring.
Our courses are a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops to help clients achieve maximum proficiency.
While we do not presently run regularly scheduled training ourselves, we do operate as North American agents for our colleagues at Rational Commerce. Advanced Ingres Programming

This 4-day intensive, advanced course is designed to help experienced designers and application programmers understand the robust capabilities of Ingres (on UNIX®or Windows® ). The program is designed to train clients whose IT solutions require very fast, efficient - and scalable - enterprise solutions to manage huge data volumes. Managing and preventing I/O and concurrency problems is emphasized. Also, query tuning and advanced SQL techniques are covered in depth.

Intermediate SQL for Ingres
Developed in Partnership with Rational Commerce Ltd.
For programmers who want to expand their skill set to include SQL. This 4-day class covers the basics of SQL (including embedded SQL) plus commonly used Ingres-specific extensions. Training is provided using Ingres on UNIX or Windows. An abbreviated 3-day version of this program is also offered, which omits the embedded SQL topics.

Introduction to Databases and Ingres
This 1-day course offers the non-computer professional the basic theoretical and practical knowledge to begin working with Ingres databases. Elementary Database Management System (DBMS) and SQL programming concepts and terms are introduced. The basic mechanics of Ingres Graphic User Interface (GUI) and character-based tools are taught and reinforced through short in-class exercises. This program is also a solid foundation for more advanced Ingres programming sessions.
Ingres Database Administration
This complete 3-day class in Ingres database administration is designed for Ingres database administrators of any experience level. Clients will move through key topics for database administrators, from user management to table storage structures. Database creation, object management, security and backup-recovery processes are explained in detail. For DBA's who also manage an Ingres system, this class can be combined with the Ingres Administration and Tuning Class as a full week of master level instruction.

Ingres Administration and Tuning
This 2-day class covers Ingres system administration, tuning, and performance monitoring. After covering Ingres installation, disk configuration, and administration tasks, clients will learn Ingres's internal architecture. The class continues with Ingres server configuration, tuning, and monitoring. This class can be combined with the Ingres Database Administration Class for a full week of master level instruction.
